Our programming focuses on health and human services to support families, initiatives that assist youth in their educational and career development, projects that expand artistic abilities and cultural awareness through visual and performing arts, and international initiatives that promote awareness of the world and its people.
To provide opportunities for secondary students to explore STEM-related careers, to apply for college scholarships, and to visit area colleges.
To provide experiences in the visual and performing arts that enrich and inform students and adults about the importance of history, and foster creativity.
To provide information to targeted senior populations on topics such as voter registration, senior resources, and health maintenance activities, as well as access to fresh produce.
To provide services or supplies to international communities including Haiti, as it continues to address devastation and recovery from natural disasters, and locally, to our Houston international refugees.
To provide information and learning opportunities on health related issues which significantly impact our intergenerational community, including diabetes, heart disease, breast cancer, and healthy lifestyles.
To have demonstrated exemplary community service and leadership and all other facets of service, collectively.
The Choice Foundation is committed to supporting education, social services, and civic and cultural initiatives in Houston area communities that enrich the lives of those in need.
Through our partnership with the Missouri City (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, professional women of color volunteer their time and expertise to encourage student interests in STEM, educate and provide resources to the elderly, collaborate with educators on the importance of arts education to inspire creativity in students, highlight the important work of our Houston area international refugees, promote health, and engage and empower individuals and communities to choose healthy behaviors that reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases.
Our partnership with Houston Methodist Hospital and the Missouri City (TX) Links enabled us to touch students at Attucks Middle School and the Cuney Homes housing development through the Kids Xplore program to foster their enthusiasm in STEM and provide hands-on opportunities for participants to apply and practice age appropriate computational and problem solving skills.
Held biennially since 1993, the Our Choice Awards is The Choice Foundation’s Signature fundraiser that recognize individuals for their exemplary contributions and achievements to community service. Their work reflect a sincere commitment to provide services and activities that enhance the quality of life for youth, seniors, and the underserved in our community and abroad. Honorees have provided long-term and transformational service to the local community in five areas.
